Tongue piercing can Cause more then just Chipped Teeth Problems.
Normally people that get tongue piercing may know the risk of chipping their teeth if they are not careful. However wearing tongue studs can also cause gums to recessed, nerve damage as well a a much more serouis for developing a fate infection, such as Ludwig’s angina or endocarditis. (according to a report in the May/June 2004 issue of General Dentistry). Endocarditis can occurs when bacteria travels into the bloodstream through the piercing and infects the heart. Anyone with a history of heart defects are at risk for endocarditis.
