Dental News, California seeks dentists for NHSC loan repayment plan
Sacramento, Calif.—The state of California wants to help pay off its dentists’ loans.
The California State Loan Repayment Program, funded by the National Health Service Corps., has about $4 million to award this year to repay outstanding government and commercial loans for expenses incurred during undergraduate and graduate study. The California Legislature must still authorize $2 million of the funding.
But there is a catch. While the money is readily available to California health professionals who meet the requirements, their place of employment must match the funds allotted from the state of California in order to receive the loan repayment.
